Mike and Tracey have worked in the pet industry for a combined total of over 34 years.
Tracey started at 15 years old working at a boarding kennel, it was part time of course, but even after high school she knew
she wanted to stay in that field. Her passion for the animals assured her that caring for people's pets was exactly
what she wanted to make a career of. She worked at a few different kennels throughout the years, learning as much as
she could from each one. Although grooming is a relatively new aspect of the
pet industry for Tracey, she has groomed for just over 5 years. Tracey became interested in grooming at one of the kennels
she worked at before they came here and learned the basics while still managing that kennel.
Mike is a certified dog trainer and has been for
the last 10 years. Mike had also spent 4 years volunteering as a trainer at a local animal shelter in the suburbs of
Chicago where he helped train over 500 dogs. All dogs were to be trained starting from when they came up for adoption,
teaching proper manners like sitting when potential families came to see them. Though Mike has trained dogs with several
different personalities, he excelled at teaching the more difficult or aggressive dogs. Mike does not believe in any "one"
particular method, as every dog learns in a different way and thus needs to be taught differently. He believes teaching you
how to use the tools properly, trying different ones until he finds the one that works best for you and your dog. Mike also spent the 5 years working at the same boarding kennel where he met Tracey. Sharing
the same love for animals, Mike and Tracey decided it was time to start making their own dreams of owning and operating a
boarding kennel come true. They have been here for over 5 years now and have remodeled and upgraded the existing kennel
to meet their high standards. So come in for a tour and see what you think of Canine Comfort Inn.
